Why NEXIUM

If you have acid reflux disease, you may know the pain that can be associated with persistent heartburn. There are several good reasons why your doctor has prescribed NEXIUM for you; here are just a few:

NEXIUM relieves heartburn. In fact, for many people, one NEXIUM pill a day provides 24-hour relief from frequent, persistent heartburn. Your results with NEXIUM may vary.

NEXIUM also heals damage. NEXIUM has been proven to heal damaging erosions to the esophagus that have been caused by acid reflux disease. In 8-week clinical tests, nearly 9 out of 10 patients with acid reflux-related erosions in their esophagus were successfully healed with NEXIUM. Healing was even experienced by people with severe levels of erosive esophagitis. Most erosions heal within 4 to 8 weeks. Your results with NEXIUM may vary.

NEXIUM is a PPI. Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are the most effective treatments for acid reflux disease. PPIs work by turning off many of the “acid pumps” in the stomach’s acid-producing cells. This reduces the amount of acid in the stomach.

Millions of patients have been prescribed NEXIUM. Since the FDA first approved it in 2001, health care professionals have prescribed NEXIUM more than 147 million times.*
